Until the 13th century the settlement of North Moravia reached to the mountains in north which extended in horseshoe shape from Olomouc through Štenberg past Uničov and past today's Usov to the river Morava.Everything else were coverd by widespeards forests where people had still been permanently living.Movement of bordes had happend in 13th and 14th century, when czech element expanded form plane to foothills. There was not enough inhatitants for quicker usage of unsettled areas and natural assets.Plus that local people did know breaking of ore. That is why in the start of 13th century and in 14th cenrury there is foreign colonization-german settlers are comming.
In the second half of the 13th
century between Uničov and later castle Sovinec was starting to come
up the important aristocratic kin, Lords from Šumvald. They are
owners of large village Šumvald and soon of other villages which had
been created from their colonization. The first reports about Šumvald
and Lords of Šumvald are in documents from 1287.The firs Lord was
Oneš from Šumvald. He was very important bailiff, chamberlain of the
olomouc justice. On the right there is stamp of Oneš from the end of
the 13th century.Any of the Šumvald s branches weren t
successful in gathering big property so later lords of Šumvald were
only classified as a knight families.
The kin of Lords of Šumvald
obtained Žertonín in the first half of the 14th century and
it gave their branch parmanent name. That is how was created famous
family Lords of Žertonín.In the 158th century rule of Šumvald
and Back Sokolom is becomming property of Zvolen and later as a
property of lords of Milčín.From 1535 the whole property was
slowly handed over to kin of Boskovice and the origin property to
Usov.
Lord Oneš probably got the land in the north and founded there village called ,,Čisté slémě“ or maybe he got this small village with large piece of land on which he founded new village and gave it the name Šumvald, according to the foreign model of the latest Premysl. From language point of view is name Šumvald just normal translation of the czech name to German.,,Slémě“ či Siemeno is the top roof spar or the top of the hill, too.Pure,so beautiful so ,,Čisté Siemeno“(beautiful chine, beautiful top of the hill)so actually the same what is telling to us the name of german Schoenvald.
