Line John Bahr and Hermina Riedl

History of the William J. Bahr Family in America (Bahr side).

John (Johann) Bahr, son of Johannes and second wife Theresa Bahr, was born February 10, 1855 in Trebenz, Austria (Moravia) and died April 18, 1907) in Olmitz, Kansas. He departed Europe from Bremen, Germany on the ship Rhein and arrived May 15, 1885 in New York City, NY.
John likely joined his brother Joseph and half-sister Clara Bahr Zimmer at their homes in Olmitz, Kansas. They had arrived earlier in 1875.
John soon returned to Austria (Moravia) after hearing that his girlfriend (Rea family) had died in childbirth in Olomuc, Moravia, with his daughter (he had not earlier known about the daughter) after he had gone to America. However, his dead girlfriend’s parents would not allow his daughter, Maria Rea, to join him, so she stayed in Moravia and married into the Hochsmann family. Descendants of this family have lived in Vienna since expulsion from Czechoslovakia after World War II.
Returning to Kansas, John married Hermina Riedl (April 6, 1868 – July 2, 1939; daughter of Johann Riedl and Anna Pavlickova) on March 8, 1886. Their children were Josephine A.
