Gradually I am getting from relatives in the USA a photo or documentation
from previous periods. From all of them you can feel the history of the fate of family, who
emigrated from native Šumvald to the United States, State of Kansas, Olmitz village.
Therefore I decided to put it on the web and add stepwise.
This is the Trunk with the photos, with which travelled Johann Riedl (* 1821) from
native Šumvald over the sea. Certainly there were more of the luggage, but the
only photo of the trunk was preserved - the trunk, no.1. On the trunk, there is
written Joh maybe John instead of Johann. And so the Moravian Johann became
American.
The first photo that I got is a picture, that Johann imported
from Europe and probably one of the few, or perhaps the only, have been preserved.
The german written text below the image, perhaps from calendar, lists year 1873 .
The record of a census of people in Kansas, Barton County - 4.6.1880. They are listed here:
Johann, Anna, Adolf, Rudolf, Franz, Tereza and Hermína.
Another record from Olmitz in 1885. Franz and his wife née Marry
Hnazlík-ová, and their daughter, Anna (1 year) and Johann (father of Franz).
Record from 7.6.1900, on which is Rudolf, his wife Josepína née Kober
and their 9 children: Mary, John, Frank, Frances, Mini, Theresa, Adolf,
Josef and Anna. The remaining 5 children were born after 1900.
